Upcoming Management Sims for 2027, Dated on Steam
Updated September 8, 2026
Which management sims actually have a 2027 date on Steam
Checked August 2026.
Search for upcoming management sims in 2027 and you mostly get 2026 roundups with a 2027 headline bolted on. Steam has a real answer, and it is an uncomfortably long one: Steam’s Management tag with the coming-soon filter on carries more than 250 games showing a 2027 window. The overwhelming majority are a capsule image, one paragraph and a bare year.
So the work on this page is subtraction. I worked down that coming-soon list opening store pages until thirteen had survived all three cuts below, and the sorting axis is the one that decides whether you will enjoy a management game at all: what the game hands you to run.
A management sim is a game where you run a system instead of a character: you lay out the space, place the people, spend money and time you never have enough of, then watch the system push back. If you want the longer version of why that loop holds, we keep it in what makes a management sim fun.
The verdict, up front: if you wishlist one game off this page, make it Frostpunk: 1886, the only 2027 entry that is a full rebuild of a game the same studio already shipped. Frostpunk (2018) holds 136,970 Steam reviews at 92% positive (as of August 2026), so 11 bit studios is remaking something it already got right once.
How thirteen survived out of 250
Three cuts, in order.
The store page has to describe a system you operate. That removes most of the life sims and a long tail of shop-shaped adventure games that carry the Management tag for reach.
The date has to be printed on the store page now. A page reading “To be announced” has told you it has no date.
Three entries with 2027 windows are out on a distinction that matters: their store pages say the 2027 date is when you can start paying for an unfinished build. That is a different promise from every other row here, and mixing the two would make the table lie about what a date means.
One limitation applies to all thirteen. A Steam release window is a display choice on top of an estimate, and per Steam’s own release date documentation a developer can change it up to two weeks before the date they set. Nothing below is a commitment. A quarter is a team that has scoped the work; a bare year is a team that has not, or will not be held to it yet.
The thirteen, sorted by what you run
Every window in this table is the one printed on that game’s own Steam page, checked August 2026. The same pass produced the two exclusions further down.
| Game | Date on Steam | What you run | Studio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frostpunk: 1886 | 2027 | The last city on a frozen Earth | 11 bit studios |
| Planetbase 2 | Q1 2027 | An off-world colony and its supply chain | Madruga Works |

Places you keep alive
Frostpunk: 1886 is 11 bit studios remaking its own survival city builder: you are the captain of the last city on Earth, and heat, food and people are the three dials that will not all stay up at once. The 2018 original is still the reference point for management games where the systems argue with your conscience. It is the deepest thing on this page and the studio has already landed this exact game once, which is why it takes the verdict slot above.
Planetbase 2 puts a group of near-future colonists on Mars and asks you to make oxygen, water, food and manufactured goods flow in the right order before the next shortage. Wishlist it if the part of management you enjoy is the supply chain. Its Q1 2027 window is the firmest date signal on this page: the earliest quarter here, from the studio that shipped the first one.
My Time at Evershine makes you governor of a new settlement on the fringes of the Free Cities: recruit settlers, build infrastructure, decide what the town becomes. Pathea Games has already shipped My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock, so Evershine is the third of these it has built. If you want the management layer wrapped in a life sim, this is the 2027 one.
Rosters you pick
Motorsport Manager 2 returns to the sport where the manager genre reads most clearly: a car, a driver, a pit wall and a race that punishes the call you made forty minutes ago. Playsport Games shipped the 2016 original, so the shape of this one is already known. Anyone whose management itch is a roster and a race weekend should have it wishlisted.
Football, Tactics & Glory 2 keeps its predecessor’s odd and excellent idea of playing the match itself as a turn-based tactics grid while you run the club around it. Pick this one if spreadsheets alone bore you but a full football sim is more hours than you have.
The Ludus: Ashes Over Pompeii hands you a decaying gladiator school in Pompeii, with fighters to train and local politics to survive, and everyone reading knows what the mountain is going to do. Its Q3 2027 window is the one I trust least on this page: a historical drama with a training sim underneath is a lot of scope, and Badadam Studios has no shipped predecessor to measure the estimate against.
A country you steer
Espiocracy gets its own line because it is the only entry where the thing you operate is a whole state’s covert arm. You run the intelligence agency of one of 74 playable countries, influencing ideologies, staging coups and running proxy wars from the shadows, at a scale closer to a Paradox map than a tycoon floor plan. The system it hands you is other people’s history, and nothing else on this page is playing at that size.
Businesses you run
Tiny Tenants is cozy real estate: bid on flawed properties, renovate them, keep the tenants happy, grow the business. It is the closest thing in 2027 to the loop our own best apartment building management games roundup covers. I have this one wishlisted; it is the only game in the table whose subject is tenants and rent.
Tabletop Inc. starts you in a bedroom workshop making board games, assembling boxes by hand, paying bills, hiring friends and upgrading the workspace. It is the studio-sim fantasy at kitchen-table scale, a smaller and more legible subject than a game studio or a hospital.
Mountain Resort Manager is gondolas, trails, staff and finances on a mountain that changes with the seasons. The seasons are the whole pitch: the map itself keeps altering demand, which almost nothing else here does.
Scream Operator: Haunted House Manager sits you in the control booth of a haunted-house dark ride, balancing how hard you scare people against how much they will pay to come back. That is the best small idea in the batch: one room, one dial, an obvious tension.
Adventurer’s Guild Manager has you writing quest contracts, trading magical items with adventurers and growing a guild’s reputation, which is the fantasy-RPG economy seen from behind the quest board. It is for anyone who has ever read a quest board and wondered who set the rates.
Canal Tycoon moves industrial goods along period canal maps while you fight over water rights, politics and rivals. If your management itch is a transport network, this is the only place on this page to scratch it.
Five you can already play a version of
The useful thing about a slate this sequel-heavy is that the waiting is optional. All five of these come from the same studio as the game in the middle column, so the shape of the 2027 release is already on Steam today.
| Coming in 2027 | Play this now instead | On Steam since |
|---|---|---|
| Frostpunk: 1886 | Frostpunk | 2018 |
| Planetbase 2 | Planetbase | 2015 |
| Motorsport Manager 2 | Motorsport Manager | 2016 |
| Football, Tactics & Glory 2 | Football, Tactics & Glory | 2018 |
| My Time at Evershine | My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock | 2019, 2023 |
What is not on this list, and why
Tropico 7 is the big management name people expect here, and if its date slips it becomes a 2027 game and immediately the largest one. The table only carries windows printed for 2027, and Tropico 7’s page prints 2026.
Prison Architect 2 reads “To be announced” on its own store page. It may well arrive in 2027. Nobody, including Paradox, is currently claiming that in writing.
The three paid-unfinished-launch entries described above are out for the reason given there. Every other page I opened failed the first cut: it never says what system you would be running. I did not open all 250-plus of them.
Where our own game sits
Our first game, Grandma Left Me a Building, is a cozy 2D apartment management sim: you restore the run-down building your grandmother left you, find tenants, collect rent and upgrade the place. It is dated 10 November 2026, so it lands before this calendar starts, and it is unreleased, so there is nothing to point at yet beyond the store page. If the tenant loop is what brought you here, Tiny Tenants above is the 2027 answer and ours is the 2026 one.
While 2027 sorts itself out
- Games like Two Point Hospital if you want the comedy-management lane covered properly today.
- Upcoming cozy games 2027 for the softer half of the same calendar, with a different thirteen.
- History of management sim games if you want to know how the genre got from Bullfrog to a haunted-house dark ride.
Quick answers
Are any management sims confirmed for 2027?
Yes. Thirteen management sims carry a printed 2027 window on Steam as a finished-release date, including Frostpunk: 1886, Motorsport Manager 2 and Planetbase 2. More than 250 Management-tagged games show a 2027 window in total, and most of those are a single-paragraph store page with no described system.
What is the biggest management sim coming in 2027?
Frostpunk: 1886, from 11 bit studios, a full rebuild of the 2018 survival city builder. Motorsport Manager 2 is the other returning name with a shipped predecessor behind it, and Tropico 7 would outsize both if its current 2026 date slips.
Which 2027 management sim date can I actually trust?
A quarter from a studio that shipped the previous game. Planetbase 2 and Football, Tactics & Glory 2 are the only two that qualify: both name a quarter and both come from the team behind the original. Eight of the thirteen show a bare year, which is the weakest signal Steam offers, and a quarter from a first-time team is a scope estimate with nothing behind it.
Is there a 2027 management sim about renting out apartments?
Yes, one: Tiny Tenants, a cozy real estate game about bidding on flawed properties, renovating them and keeping tenants happy. It is the only 2027 entry here built around the landlord loop.
